Meet the Pack
Abby Road Rescue Sanctuary was a dream. I have always loved the Dachshund breed. I have also always been emotionally drawn to help senior dogs. With these two heartstrings, I was pulled to open a Dachshund and Senior rescue. With research and patience, in 2016 we were able to purchase our home and land with the rescue and senior sanctuary in mind. I will never say that it is easy. The days are long and it can get rough, but it is definitely rewarding and lifts my heart.
To date, we have had around 305 dogs come through our gates; some young, some old, some were adopted, some are still here, and some have crossed over the bridge. One thing they have all done is been loved, cared for, and taught that not all humans are bad. We have had dogs dropped by owners, dogs picked up from shelters, and some were strays where we were called for help. Some of the dogs come in confused, scared, and mistrusting wondering what they did wrong that mom/dad won't come back to get them. Others are so happy, out of the shelter, that they are running in circles and wanting to play with all their new friends. The seniors we've rescued are generally pretty set in their ways and usually happy to just have their comfy bed, food, and a nice place to walk outside. No matter who they are, size or age, we do our best to ensure they know they are loved, while we do everything we can to find their foster or adopter homes. |
Could you be the one we are looking for? Meet our available family members below. If you find that you would like to foster or adopt, please reach out. They would love to meet the mom/dad who has been looking for them!
